I was home early enough today that the sun was still shining. I nearly celebrated by going for a walk but it was very cold and I’m a real wuss when it comes to cold weather.
Instead I wandered around my garden and looked at the surprising amount of flowers that are out at the moment.
The primulas have been in flower since before Christmas and are still going strong and the snowdrops are still coming out. The grape hyacinths are continuing to try and take over the entire garden despite the fact that I pull what feels like thousands up every year.
The most surprising thing that I found though was a clump of forget me nots flowering at least 2 months early if not more.
As it’s forecast to be very cold this weekend, I hope that they don’t live to regret their bravery in flowering so early in the year.
They are lovely and cheerful and with the lighter nights and mornings, it really feels as though Spring is on the way.
